Description
We are looking for an experienced safety leader to support and lead our safety initiatives and program. Must have experience in the construction field. 

Typical Duties
  • Prepare safety policies and procedures, and support in implementing these policies and procedures
  • Continually evaluate and improve policies and procedures
  • Interpret OSHA guidelines and company policies and procedures to lead company direction and decisions  
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Safety training of new hires and current staff and as needed per law/guidelines or as needed due to safety hazard
  • Maintain training tracking system - Train Track
  • Conduct safety meetings on job sites and in shop
  • Accident investigation to include immediate corrective actions
  • Visit job sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials
  • Provide technical support and compliance guidance to management team and employees
  • Medical evaluation for respirator use
  • Oversee hearing conversation program
  • Conduct industrial hygiene surveys to examine employee/workplace exposure to chemical and physical agents
  • Oversee fire monitoring system 
  • Process motor vehicle reports (MVR) for new hires and annually and evaluate driving privileges based on MVR  
  • Work with management on discipline related to safety
  • Analyze overall data for trends to include discipline, near misses and incidents
  • Update and maintain safety manual, site specific plans, safety data sheets (SDS), prequalification and prequalification audit databases
  • Act as point of contact for addressing employee concerns regarding health and safety policy
  • Procurement of safety equipment and safety apparel
 
Qualifications
  • BS (preferably in Occupational Safety and Health) preferred
  • CSP/ASP certification preferred  
  • Prefer 10 years of safety experience, minimum of 5 years in construction field
  • Must have supervisory experience 
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to remain composed in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills ("I don't know but will find out" mentality)
  • Self-motivated
  • Highly organized
