Description
We are looking for an experienced safety leader to support and lead our safety initiatives and program. Must have experience in the construction field.
Typical Duties
Typical Duties
- Prepare safety policies and procedures, and support in implementing these policies and procedures
- Continually evaluate and improve policies and procedures
- Interpret OSHA guidelines and company policies and procedures to lead company direction and decisions
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Safety training of new hires and current staff and as needed per law/guidelines or as needed due to safety hazard
- Maintain training tracking system - Train Track
- Conduct safety meetings on job sites and in shop
- Accident investigation to include immediate corrective actions
- Visit job sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials
- Provide technical support and compliance guidance to management team and employees
- Medical evaluation for respirator use
- Oversee hearing conversation program
- Conduct industrial hygiene surveys to examine employee/workplace exposure to chemical and physical agents
- Oversee fire monitoring system
- Process motor vehicle reports (MVR) for new hires and annually and evaluate driving privileges based on MVR
- Work with management on discipline related to safety
- Analyze overall data for trends to include discipline, near misses and incidents
- Update and maintain safety manual, site specific plans, safety data sheets (SDS), prequalification and prequalification audit databases
- Act as point of contact for addressing employee concerns regarding health and safety policy
- Procurement of safety equipment and safety apparel
Qualifications
- BS (preferably in Occupational Safety and Health) preferred
- CSP/ASP certification preferred
- Prefer 10 years of safety experience, minimum of 5 years in construction field
- Must have supervisory experience
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to remain composed in stressful situations
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills ("I don't know but will find out" mentality)
- Self-motivated
- Highly organized
